Hard to believe?? But its true. Stock photographers like me work on a TFCD (Trade For CD) basis with the models. This method benefits both the photographer as well as the models. Since microstock photography is yet not known in India like the traditional stock photography, the same concept is known as TFP (Trade for Photo). The reason is, in earlier days before digital photography models and photographers dealt with positive prints more than digital. So basically we give models the portfolio for free and the models give us the right to sell your photographs through our agencies worldwide to cover our shooting costs. Here are some questions below that might solve some of your doubts.

What do we Need?
New Upcoming models who need more variety within their portfolio. Though stock photography doesn’t mean glamor photography completely, glamor photography does happen to be some part of the whole concept. In stock photography business we require photographs dealing with concepts more than just models in traditional poses. Check the GALLERY link for more details so you get an idea of how there can be different concepts on models dressed as executives, traditional clothing, students or in other different roles. We don’t click photographs unless we know that it’s a concept that will sell. Still when we work on a TFCD basis, we do provide models with traditional glamor photos apart from the conceptual shoot we do.

What are the conditions to get the free portfolio??
Most importantly we need people with a passion to succeed in their modeling career. We are not looking for people with low self-confidence and just giving it a roll because it is free. If you work with the later idea, you wont be happy looking at your own photos. Modeling is not an easy job. It requires a lot of attitude and confidence that you are going to look great in a particular pose. It requires a lot of practice and skills. Yes your flaws will be covered with makeup and lighting, but not completely. If you are not having a basic know-how of how you look in the mirror, you won’t know the outcome of your photos no matter how much a photographer tries. Alternately, we also would like to shoot people who are not in modeling profession but still want to have a set of good pictures of their own. We request such people that they contact us only based on the condition that they will follow the photographers or assistants instructions at the shoot and not give their own instructions instead. Ideas are always welcome but we like to keep the shoot environment friendly. If you do have any ideas or suggestions for your shoot, you can discuss those with us prior to the shoot.

In stock photography we work with models on contract basis. In this world anything that comes for free comes with a catch. There is a catch here as well. If we are shooting you for free we have to cover up our shooting costs from some other source. This brings you to signing our “MODEL RELEASE” document which deals with the legalities of the whole process. Are There Any Extra Costs You Might Need To Pay??
Not really unless you want to look really glamorous. What you might to need to spend extra on will be a make-up artist if you feel that you really need one. We always recommend you to hire a MAKEUP artist if you are going to use this collection as your primary portfolio. A MAKEUP artist might cost anything from Rs. 500 to Rs. 3000 depending upon the popularity of the artist.

I am Interested but where are the shoots held?
Primarily the shoots are done in Pune. That doesn’t mean that you necessarily need to be in Pune or travel here unless you specifically want studio shots. We shoot on travel as well and you never know when Nikhil might land up in your city. There is no harm in having your application sent to us so we can contact you when you are around. Alternatively, you can also let us know when you visit Pune so we can arrange your shoot matching your schedule and ours.
